I like this little owl, and I feel very much as he seems to feel, when I'm reading today. That is, doing it with a scowl.
I'm having a bit of trouble scrounging up books to use as a Tea for Tuesday pairing. At this point I've picked up and rejected (all books get a minium two separate chances) The Undrowned Child and New Writing 2010 (I forget the exact title, it's the one that publishes primarily MFA work, you know the one). I also tried Sense and Sensibility and The 42nd Parallel (I know, I'm obliged to love those books, but I just wasn't feeling it) with no luck.
I'm mid-way through a giant collection of Hemingway's short stories, which I've been able to enjoy since it's been so many years after I read The Old Man and the Sea. I'm also reading The Lie That Tells a Truth by John Dufresne and His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman, but I'm not finished with any of them yet.
I'm completely open to suggestions. It's been quite a slow month for excellent books for me, beyond the occasional dirty secret of a popular novel.
My own work continues with zeal, but that's for another day. How are your writing resolutions coming on? Is the New Year everything you've hoped for? Anyone going to the big conference at the end of January?
