where the writers are
Funding for Writers LWC}NYC Notes

Special thanks to Jeffrey Lependorf and Mary Gannon for their useful talk on obtaining resources for writers, whether it be time, space, money, speaking fees, research trips, or fellowships.

Since most of us are not NY based writers, I am only going to mention the sites anyone can use:

Poets & Writers -http://www.pw.org/

Not only do they have a great contest calendar, but I know they offer opportunities for speaker's fees are more as well as yearly events.

Mira's List Blog -http://miraslist.blogspot.com/

This site mentions all kinds of residencies, grants, and more that are a little off the beaten path.

Alliance of Artist Communities -http://www.artistcommunities.org/

This site is residency specific. It allows writers to find the space they need.

Kickstarter -http://www.kickstarter.com/

This site allows all kinds of artists to set up projects and request funding for their projects. Donors receive thanks and project-related gifts. It's a great opportunity for writers looking to expand their sphere and collaborate with other artists.
Well that's all for now. I hope it benefits some of you authors. The next CLMP related post will cover a few things another group of agents had to say about opening lines.
Wishing you all the best and a very pleasant Thanksgiving.
