Every now and then a piece of writing will grab you by the gonads and make you scream "Fucktasia! That's fine piece Fiction!"
Fortunately, the majority of the time this happens-you are in the privacy of your own home. Such was the lucky case for me upon reading "The Knocking" by David Means, available online under Fiction, at The New Yorker website. It is lovely and reminds me a great deal of a story I once read as a student; it was about a man and his wife and a butter knife, and regardless of dull that may sound it was quite a good story.
I'm afraid I must insist that you stop reading this blog post and go read "The Knocking", now!
Seriously, I know you are still reading this post, but you shouldn't. Stop! For the love of God. Go Read "The Knocking."
