LARGE RED INTERIOR, a new play about Matisse and Picasso by Anthony Maulucci

From my full-length play about the Matisse-Picasso rivalry. This scene between Henri Matisse and his model and muse of many years, Lydia Delectorskaya, a Russian emigre, takes place in 1948 in Matisse's studio in Nice-Cimiez where he moved after leaving Vence. Matisse has been working on what will be his last painting, "Large Red Interior." He will only produce cut-outs from then on. The play covers a period of 10 years, until Matisse's death in 1954. There are 2 other characters, Picasso and Lydia's fiance, Aaron Kaufman. The play was given a public reading in 2011 in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where I am a resident. Funding for a New York production in Spring 2012 is being sought through Kickstarter.com. Donation levels begin at $25. Please consider helping this dream become a reality by donating whatever you can
