A Fistful of Crowdfunding

A lot of established artists are now using Kickstarter and Indiegogo to raise funds for their latest projects. They are open to anyone, but perhaps there should be an admissions' policy which keeps those who have access to other resources of funding from using the service. This would level the playing field for emerging artists who have no other way to seek donations.

Many independent bookstores have recently jumped on the crowdfunding bandwagon. I love independent bookstores, and want them to survive and prosper, but they are a for-profit business and do not truly belong in a program designed to help struggling artists.

Be that as it may, I’ve decided to throw my hat in the ring and have launched a campaign to raise funds to help with traveling expenses so that I can give readings from my book, 100 Love Sonnets, in NYC, Paris, and Rome. To make a contribution, please use this link:

Rewards include free admission to a reading and signed copies of the book. Many thanks if you can help with a donation of $10 or more.
