FELLOW WRITERS -- Many of you already know I am an editorial consultant for Martin Literary Management.  Today I am sharing this note from Sharlene Martin as a call for a particular vein of story material that you as a Red Room writer may want to pursue.  Here's the info (if you submit story material, please reference this Redroom posting): 

"As a literary manager who deals in a lot of true crime, I have recently optioned a reality show as Producer to a cable network.  We are currently researching cases to profile where the author and their book will be given credit on air for any work we use of theirs:

We are in search of interesting true crime murder stories where aside from the intrigue of the crime itself, the murder cases must have the following:

 1.  Fully adjudicated and the killer(s) has/have been convicted or is/are dead.

 2.  A full background history on the killer(s), providing details as to the escalation of his/her behaviors leading up to the murder(s), perhaps beginning in childhood, but at least several years prior to the murder(s) so that an obvious pattern of aberrant behavior can be tracked and understood up to the point of the murder(s).  In most, but not all cases, this will require a previous and on-going relationship of some sort between the killer(s) and victim(s).

 3.  Specifically, we're looking for killers whose behavior in life and whose eventual motive for killing is clearly driven by one of the seven deadly sins (pride, anger, greed, gluttony, lust, envy, or sloth).

 4.  And, perhaps most importantly, we're looking for murder cases which also include an element of sex, seduction and manipulation.  It's important that the sexual aspect be of a pleasurable, consensual nature, rather than any type of forcible sex, such as rape, pedophilia, necrophilia or the like.  Sexual fantasy might work, depending on the nature of such fantasy.
