Saturday we went to an art show in the park.
I bought a print from Thailand with a beautiful saying attached.
It was hard to choose just one, but just standing under the tent
looking at all of the beautiful people and faces this artist had captured
with his lens, filled me with light and hope-even as the day grew gray and rainy.
I found other artists who brought a smile to my face.
My other purchase was a strip of colored glass.
It looks like a rainbow and I am going to hang it from a window where I can
watch the light make rainbows on the wall.
I am slowly realizing that I am purchasing these items to feather a nest- my own space.
I want a space of my own in which to read and write, filled with beautiful pieces
that inspire and excite me.

Amusement Park
That's how I feel about my office here at home: it's a writer's amusement park. Little collections here & there (I am NOT a hoarder), drums, flutes, coffe scoops (oy, don't ask!), music always playing, incense, etc., etc., etc.
My Beloved Sandra's almost afraid to enter. Thank God she's brave enough to bring me coffee, though.

Annette,
Your "nest" is possibly the equivalent of the "man-cave" we hear so much about in the news on cultural trends these days. We all need retreats from "the sound and fury," right? As you may know, in the American Dream, it's sometimes called the Garden in the Wilderness.

Ron,
I've been dreaming of a space of my own since I was 18. Perhaps due to my crowded childhood sharing space with 5 brothers and sisters?
I only know that I have begun to look for a space in which to call my own. Your space sounds very unique- especially the coffee scoops!
Thanks for stopping by,
Annette

Brenden,
Yes, it probably is like the man cave, or as history shows, men have had a study to retreat into, and women have claimed the "morning room" or a sewing room for their own.
We all need some quiet space of our own to get away from the chaos!
