It's time to let you go~
I wish it was easier, a clean break,
but it's not that easy to sever the invisible umbilical cord that ties you to me.
Oh, I know you are a big boy now.
You've been showing me through your attitude and actions,
that I'm no longer the most important person in your life.
I get it, I really do.
You've got jobs, and bills, and relationships to juggle,
a social life, and an image to maintain.
And I cramp your style~
with my endless probing questions:
"Do you have plans? Should I expect you for dinner?
Have you moved your car so I can get out of the driveway?
Is this your laundry in the dryer?"
I'm sure its tough, having to re-heat a home cooked meal,
or grabbing that clean towel from the closet,
or even sharing those 500 channels and free internet with the rest of us.
You need a break free from these apron strings.
So I release you, young man~
it's time to leave this nest.
You're welcome to visit,
but please call ahead~
I may have other plans.
