I love to make New Year's resolutions. It feels like starting over again, and again. The one thing I have learned about resolutions is that they require work and do not happen miraculously. Life would be so much easier but possibly much less appreciated if my resolutions happened without effort.
Most of my New Year's resolutions are the same year after year with losing weight always on the list. I'm still working on that one. In the past having a baby appeared on my list each year but that one never worked out for my husband and I, which we have resovled over time. Other resolutions that have met with success are buying a house, gaining some sense of financial stability and developing a better relationship with my mother.
A resolution pick each year since I was about 13 was to write a novel. After many starts that were never finished, I did finish my first novel in late 2009. In 2010 I revised and edited my novel and entered it into two writing contests. My top resolution for 2011 will be to have my novel published, either in print or electronically, and to finish my second novel which will be the second in a planned series of four. It will be interesting to see if I'm able to accomplish these resolutions.
