Anita Amirrezvani is the author of The Blood of Flowers, published by Little, Brown in 2007. The novel was longlisted for the 2008 Orange Prize for Fiction in the UK. Called “enduring and dynamic” by the Washington Post and “hypnotic” by the San Francisco Chronicle, it has been sold to publishers in twenty-six countries. Anita has been a speaker at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Adelaide Writers Week, Book Expo America, the Asia Society, Litquake, the Nothern California Independent Booksellers Association, Women & Words, and many bookstores and libraries. Prior to the sale of her book, she was a dance critic for a decade at newspapers including the San Jose Mercury News and the Contra Costa Times. Anita began writing The Blood of Flowers nine years ago, during which time she attended the Squaw Valley Community of Writers fiction workshop, was selected as a writer-in-residence at the Hedgebrook colony for women writers, and made three research trips to Iran. She is currently working on her second novel.
