As all of you know by now, Boston and the greater Boston areas suffered unimaginable tragedy last month. Our perception of safety shattered when we witnessed the bombing at the Boston Marathon and all of the events that had ensued throughout the greater Boston area. My city was among several that were part of the lock-down and I have to say, it was real and it was frightening. While, everyone felt some emotional impact resulting from the events on 9/11 -- many who weren't directly affected, viewed it as an abstract occurrence that was far away and happened to other people. However, on a beautiful and sunny Patriot's Day here in Massachusetts -- no one could have ever envisioned the marathon ending in such a horrific and sad way, nor could we have imagined terror landing upon our own doorsteps. Yet, that is precisely what happened from the moment of the first explosion until later in the week when one individual threatened the public's safety and shut down our entire area.
Lives were lost, lives were forever changed, and I believe that we need to become more diligent in our daily routines, more grateful for all that we have, and more united with one another. Already, people here and far away have risen to the occasion in unity supporting the fallen, the injured, and the families. Although many of us reside in various Massachusetts cities and towns, when people ask us where we are from, we usually say Boston. Perhaps, this is because Boston isn't just one city in Massachusetts -- Boston is Massachusetts, Boston is strong, and despite everything -- Boston will prevail.
Fortunately, I was invited by my BFF in Maine to attend a Fleetwood Mac concert. I was grateful for this one calming and joyful force amidst the mayhem. Had the concert been scheduled on any other night, it would never have happened. Of course, while the rest of the band was phenomenal -- those of you, who know me, know that it was all about Stevie Nicks for me. She was absolutely spectacular with her mystical BoHo-Chicness, youthful appearance, and strong voice featuring her distinctive vibrato. I had visions of Stevie seeing me in the audience and calling me onto the stage to announce that I would be writing lyrics for her next big song. Okay, so that may be unrealistic, but a girl can dream, right? AND, you never know -- miracles do happen! Regardless, I had the time of my life!
Also, during the month of April, I had the opportunity to provide some writing and marketing services to a store in Watertown, Massachusetts. In fact, I've created a Facebook page for their business, but the page is only a few weeks old and needs some LIKES. So, if any of you are Facebook users and haven't already -- I would appreciate it, if you would visit and LIKE this page for me. You can find it at: http://www.facebook.com/dyerliquors
Finally, I would like to wish all mothers of yesterday, today, and tomorrow a very Happy Mother's Day -- especially my mom!
As always, thank you everyone for your love, friendship, and unyielding support for the past seven years! I look forward to many more years with you! See you next month. ~Angel
