WELCOME NEW AND LONG TIME SUBSCRIBERS!
Serendipity is not your traditional style newsletter. It is Angel Logan's unique way of reaching out to her readers and friends – to stay in touch, to give updates on her writing career, and to share a few of the personal and professional pearls of wisdom that she has acquired along her journey. It is great to have you here, and Angel hopes you enjoy reading this month’s Serendipity.
Now this is my idea of winter – 50-degree temperatures to kick off the month of February in Boston. One can only hope that this mild winter (thus far) will ensure a warm and sunny summer. Not to mention, this isn’t just any February, it is leap year. Happy birthday to those who happen to have the unique February 29th birth date!
I’m sorry for being late with Serendipity this month. Sometimes, there are not enough hours in the day or enough of me to achieve everything I have on my to-do list. However, I appreciate that all of you have hung in there with me for the past 6 ½ years and have continued reading my little monthly newsletter.
In this day and age of ever-evolving technology, it seems many, if not most of us have Facebook pages and I am sure that many of you are feeling the frustration of the new ‘timeline” feature being thrust upon us. Yes, FB is not giving us a choice in the matter. Soon, all of our profiles will convert to the new chaotic format that seems to focus upon a chronicle of our previous and current posts. Personally, I’m not thrilled with the idea either. I’ve visited a few who have opted for the early change and it is difficult to navigate, as the photos are all over the place rather than in one location, and current posts seem to jump from side of the profile to the other contingent upon the day. I don’t know what they were thinking with this change, but as with life, many changes come our way and we must simply learn to adapt. In any case, they say that we will still have the same privacy preferences and they will give us seven days to modify the content of our pages to suit us, before the big reveal. For those of you who are fairly new to Facebook – I suggest that you spend some time clicking onto the various links in the edit, privacy, and account settings menus. This is how I learned my way around FB, by clicking onto the different links and looking around to see what the features are and how they work. You don’t have to change anything, but don’t be afraid to look around. Everything appears to be reversible, except timeline (haha), but beyond that, you can’t really do much harm. I always say that knowledge is power and if you make it your business to become familiar with the programs and networks that you use – you will have more control over the process and you won’t feel so vulnerable.
Love is in the air again, as Valentine's Day approaches. I know that many of you are worried about the expensive dinners and marked-up prices on red roses during this economical crunch. Don't go crazy with your spending. Instead, go crazy with the romance -- the silly kind of romantic gestures that you might have made when you were teenagers. Let's face it, love doesn't have an age limit, so why can't we do fun and loving things for each other, without breaking the bank? I'm a big fan of heart shaped pancakes, heart shaped cakes, and heart shaped cookies. Put red food coloring in your drinks and foods, hang cutout hearts all over your house, and give your sweetheart a Valentine. Just have fun with it and enjoy each other, because love is the glue that holds all of us together in this incredible universe.
Finally, Superbowl Sunday is around the corner and although I’m not a big sports person, I do enjoy the social aspect of the event. Of course, this year is an even bigger deal, because the Patriots are playing. So, whatever you are doing to celebrate on Sunday, enjoy the game and have fun, but if you plan to drink a lot -- arrange your transportation in advance, program some taxi numbers in your cell, or have a designated sober driver. Just make sure that you are safe!
As always, thank you everyone for your love, friendship, and unyielding support during the past six years. I look forward to more years with all of you! Talk to you next month.
