Serendipity ... December 2013

WELCOME NEW AND LONG TIME SUBSCRIBERS!Serendipity is not your traditional style newsletter. It is Angel Logan's unique way of reaching out to her readers and friends – to stay in touch, to give updates on her writing career, and to share a few of the personal and professional pearls of wisdom that she has acquired along her journey. It is great to have you here, and Angel hopes you enjoy reading this month’s Serendipity.

I hope that all of you enjoyed Thanksgiving. I certainly did with my mother and my husband. We have an annual tradition for our Thanksgiving meal, going to a particular restaurant every year. Sometimes we have turkey and sometimes we have prime rib! Either way, we are together … and I am thankful for that!

During the past month, I’ve become acquainted with a 20 year old, budding writer attempting to write a book about her life. Many have asked her what she could possibly have to share about life, having not been in existence very long. However, the way I see it is that we can’t understand the life of another without actually walking within his or her shoes. We really don’t know what other people have experienced or what lessons they may have learned along their journeys. In fact, I know people in their twenties who have experienced more life defining moments in 6 months than most have within an entire lifetime. We wonder how that is even possible, but it is, because everyone has a different path with a different level of awareness from one another.  Some have faced great adversity early in life and I have to believe that those individuals are the teachers of our universe. They gain strength from their experiences and they pass those lessons onto the rest of us, in hopes that we will be able to do better in our own lives.

Clearly, this young woman has something to share and as I watch her struggle to unlock the most sacred parts of her journey … I understand. When we open up to others in that manner, we feel vulnerable and afraid of being judged. Perhaps, someone will judge us, but chances are … more people will gain awareness and hope from what we have to share.

Therefore, when others have the courage to tell us about their dreams, whether it is to write a book, become a singer, create a fashion line, design a building, become an entrepreneur, or pursue any path in life … it is our responsibility to lift them up and encourage with boundless hope. I look forward to reading this young woman’s book when she completes it. Who knows what lessons that I may learn from it.

Finally, Christmas is upon us, along with a few other important holidays. All of you know how I feel about this time of year and I don’t mind sharing it again. It isn’t about how much money you spend, it isn’t about cooking the perfect meal, it isn’t about being politically correct, and it isn’t about giving out of obligation. Our holidays give us the opportunity to slow down from our busy, stressful, and sometimes chaotic lives to appreciate life and the magic of love and togetherness. AND, as long as we give from our hearts … we will find our warm and fuzzy moments!!

Merry Christmas! May all of you have happy, safe, and wonderful holidays!!
As always, thank you everyone for your love, friendship, and unyielding support! See you next month.
