My poem “Desire (Padden Creek Winter)” was runner-up in the 2011 Clover, A Literary Rag contest; my poem “Boulevard Park” won a merit award in the 2009 Sue C. Boynton Poetry Contest. My haiku was selected as a "Notable Submission" in the 2011 HaikuNow contest (Innovative Category).

I have a short story "Tribal Warfare" published in WhatcomWrites!, a publication associated with WhatcomReads!

As an editor, I have edited four poetry collections and a historical novel. The novel is Tree Soldier, a fine novel of the Pacific Northwest in the 1930s. Highly recommended! It is by Janet Lynn Oakley, and she's here on Red Room. Find her!

Memberships: I am a member of the Bellingham Haiku Group. I curate a Japanese-style short form poetry group on Writer’s Digest Community. I am a board member of poetrynight, an organization which sponsors a weekly open mic series and a Poets in Public Education program.

My current projects include a collection of essays tentatively titled In My Father’s Kitchen. I also have a poetry chapbook manuscript tentatively titled Sequencing Fairhaven: Poems under consideration. I'm also working on a collection of linked short stories. "Tribal Warfare" is a short version of one of these linked short stories. I've uploaded it on Red Room!
