Plant me in the forest
Welcome

Plant me in the forest

on a hillock in the clear.

I belong to this circle

of redwoods gathering

sunlight ripples

and rain I drink.

Begin me then watch

my shy uncurling;

watch me spear busy earth

toss my cocoon

lift slowly with the white fog

over fallen leaves and moss.

Watch my shadow stand

Watch my roaming feet

See me. Take my hand and taste

the sun of my skin.
