The annual Dancing Poetry Festival demonstrates the interrelatedness of two modes of artistic expression by presenting poetry and dance as a unified art form.
The poems chosen for the stage performance are from the winners of the 2010 AEI international poetry awards. This year's Grand Prize winner is European-American poet Ana Elsner. Her work will be translated into innovative dance.
The Festival is held at the Florence Gould Theater in the California Palace of the Legion of Honor Museum. It seeks to expand appreciation of dance together with poetry and to give the marriage of word and motion a public forum.
Ana Elsner's Grand Prize winning poem 'Duet' has been choreographed and transformed from the page to the stage. 'Duet' will be danced by Natica Angilly's Poetic Dance Theater Company.
This is a rare opportunity to experience the richly visual aspect of poetry.
