Amy Ferguson's Biography

Member Info

Glasgow
Boyfriend of five years.
Aug 2009

I have loved reading for as long as I can remember, and grew up with characters such as Robinson Crusoe, The Hobbit, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Sherlock Holmes. I have always had the greatest admiration for people who have the confidence and the ability to put their ideas onto paper. I spent my life reading and writing stories, poems, academic and creative essays, personal reflections and more recently journalistic articles. My dream is to become a successful novelist one day, but just now I am working towards a career in journalism. I graduate with an MA in Multimedia Journalism in November from Glasgow Caledonian University, and have my NCTJ 100wpm Teeline shorthand. I have passed NCTJ Media Law, News Writing and Public Affairs, and currently hold a postgraduate diploma in Multimedia Journalism. I write for the Banter Magazine and the Evening Times community website, and hope to become more widely published over the next year. I am currently on a month's work experience placement at BBC Scotland's Radio Cafe, and have also undertaken placements at Carnegie UK Trust, the Evening Times, the Banter Magazine, the Five Thirty Show, and Scotland Today. I am travelling to Australia for six weeks in November and I am excited about finding a job when I return to Scotland in January.
