where the writers are
Alma Feelings

Almost always, my books get good ratings.  However, every now and then I’ll get some criticism.  When I get criticized it’s, we want more out of the characters and more of their feelings.  So I decided to write a blog to tell more about me and my feels.  Who could understand my characters and their feelings better than I?

First, I would like to address my negative critiques.  I take all critiques to heart.  I take every opinion about my written work into consideration.  As you know, everything has a learning process.  The more we learn, the better our work will be.  Therefore, there’s no such thing as a negative critique, to me, because I take constructive criticism and turn it into something positive.

Since we’re talking, I like to talk about the news I heard about Tisha Campbell-Martin having Stage 2 Sacoidosis.  Sarcoidosis is an inflammation of the organs, which is the same disease that killed the late Bernie Mac and former NFL star Reggie White.  Death can occur from complications in the lungs, heart, or brain, according to experts.  I’m quite sure most of us know Tisha from the hit TV Show “Martin” in the 1990’s.  She also sang on the movie, “Little Shop of Horrors.”  She starred in the movies “House Party” and “School Daze”.  For those of you who can’t remember her face, just hit the link below and take a look.  Also, there’s more about Tisha there.

As Tisha Campbell-Martin, I also have Sarcoidosis and I'm well aware of how the disease affects a person and how it leaves you feeling.  It’s a struggle every day and a battle to stay strong.  When inflamed, some symptoms of the disease are tiredness, sluggishness, coughing, and a general feeling of ill health.   Dyspnea (can’t breathe easily) and skin problems often indicate that the Sarcoidosis is more chronic and severe.  Like Tisha, I have to watch my diet and exercise.  I also know that the disease strikes blacks harder and more often than they do other groups.  Sarcoidosis causes granulomas or fibrosis which can seriously affect the functions of vital organs such as the lungs, heart, nervous system, liver, or kidneys.

This is my first blog post; however I plan on writing more.  I leave you with these words of encouragement and my motto: Live, Love and be Happy.  I would love to hear your feelings too.
