Allison Bartlett's Biography

Allison Hoover Bartlett's first narrative nonfiction book "The Man Who Loved Books Too Much: The True Story of a Thief, a Detective, and a World of Literary Obsession," will be published in the fall of 2009 (Riverhead Books).

 

For the past dozen years, Bartlett has worked as a freelance writer for newspapers and magazines. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Salon, San Francisco Magazine, Alternative Health, etc. Her story about a rare book thief published in San Francisco Magazine appears in the Best American Crime Reporting 2007.

 

Bartlett is a co-founder of the writing group North 24th and works at the San Francisco Writers' Grotto. A Bay Area native, she lives in San Francisco with her husband, two children, and ridiculously large dog.
