Another beautiful day in St. Lucia.. The only thing that's tough is the humidity - almost nowhere has AC - and this is the most humid time of year - next time, we come in December(dry season, cooler, not humid...) That apart, it's pretty amazing - our house is on a hillside looking directly at The Pitons, which is hard to beat.
There is one other tough thing - the woman who mans the internet cafe plays the same crappy(and I mean seriously, majorly, borderline-criminally crappy - lots of "woh-oh-ohs' and that voice- noodling that people with no musical ability whatsoever are prone to use - you know what I'm talkin' about, American Idols?) songs over and over again - it's like some kind of Chinese water-torture - except it's in St. Lucia and there's no water involved. It's pretty frickin' nefarious, bordering on felonius, if you want to know the truth. That stuff just kills me, I'm not kidding.
I'm with Keith Richards on this one - "There are only two kinds of music: good, and crap". This particular stuff is good and crap, alright...
Yesterday we encountered a very strange phenomenon - after passing within 100,000 kms of an anti-matter nebula, certain aspects of existence began to exhibit "reverse" qualities. For example, I passed by the psychiatric facility and a patient there(a tragic case, tortured for four months by the Cardassians) was playing a Phil Collins song - and I didn't want to throw myself down the nearest warp-core entry chute - it was quite astonishing! Then I went to Ten Forward, and after ten minutes of talking with Guinan, I didn't feel like going on a killing spree! It was quite peculiar - number two didn't seem like a grinning idiot, Mr. Data was cracking the most outrageous jokes and trying his hardest to get a new female ensign drunk, and Mr. Worf was wearing a very flitty spanish lace shirt with a pink ruff collar and loudly proclaiming the virtues of metro-sexuality. Imagine my surprise, then, when Ensign Crusher revealed that the aspirin he gave me from his mother's quarters yesterday was in fact not the trusted painkiller I am familiar with, but instead was a synthetic compound he referred to only as "E". A simple mistake. I believe I have another headache coming on...
