Slept wonderfully last night and this morning to the sound of rain.
In the afternoon, I wrote an Email to Daughter Miranda, and sent a birthday card to her son, my grandson, Nicholas Bruce Holmes. Later, the results of the South Carolina Primary began to come in. Actually, Fox News called the voting for Newt Gingrich at 4 p.m., just at the beginning of their coverage. CNN was more conservative (or stuck with going through their exit polls) and waited for additional ten minutes.
My take on the outcome was that people are beginning to really wake up to what an elitist Mitt Romney is. It may be one thing to be successful (even if you got most of your fortune from Dad), but to tout yourself as Romney does as being deserving of the Presidency entirely on a basis of grubbing money, especially the Bain Capital way, must stick in the minds of Main Street Republicans. Many of them have lost both their shirts and pants in the last decade. That trickle down has been bitter.
Farfetched as it might seem, one can almost imagine, Ron Paul being the last man standing, at this point!
Well, on to Florida, where Romney's Superpacs promise to dump on former Speaker Newt Gingrich as never before, and not just rain. The promise is of lots of fun -- were we not in such miserable shape. We really do need a leader and a plan, but I haven't heard of either from the Republicans or the Democrats.
Off now for a late supper.
Macresarf1 would write no more this day.
