Day 150: Macresarf1's Year of the Apocalypse 2012 -- A Strange Memorial Day

I had a number physical problems in the night and morning.  The good news is that there can't be too much wrong with my kidneys.

The afternoon passed for me in working on a number of projects, one of which was to post to my  Face Book Page a most interesting essay from Truthdig on the growing war against lesbians and gays in America.  To me, this development is indicative of our accelerating careen into fascism in America.  While most Americans, including many of my friends and acquaintances, seem oblivious to what is happening, the move against this minority is like a noxious gas to which the proverbial canaries are shrieking out a warning, one which is scarcely being heeded.

CNN has been following a story about a North Carolina Southern Baptist pastor who has repeatedly suggested that lesbians and gays should be kept within (separate) electified wire fences until they die off.  One does not need to point out the obvious analogy.

And there are many suggestions that this incident is not an isolated one.

Son Jason came over about six o'clock, and we watched most of BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI on TCM.  What a splendid picture, what an indictment of war's insanity, what an ironic -- even comic -- tale!  My impression is that this restoration print must have added footage.  The montages are just masterful.

Later, I viewed the new HBO film, HEMINGWAY AND GELHORN.
