A little cooler today. A number of people around me talking of the 49'ers win.
I watched tonight a forum on poverty hosted by Tavis Smiley on C-span. Among the participants were Cornel West, Michael Moore, and Suze Ormond. The general trend of the conversation was that the USA was going downhill, and things were going to get much worse before they get better. It might take decades! Cornel West suggested that we had moved in the last 30 years from "manufacturing capitalism" to "financial capitalism," and the latter had very little use for most of us, once we had maxed out our credit cards. [It is a point I've been making for over a decade.] Suze Ormond picked up the theme, saying everyone should get rid of credit cards because they are time bombs waiting to destroy many American families. Michael Moore suggested that the greed of Wall Street might at last pull Americans together in a way absent since World War II.
Later, I listened to one of the hacks hired by AM Station KGO since the new management fired most of the veterans I've been following since the early 1960's. This guy got on the air a legal liason from Occupy Oakland and preceded to lambaste her with boilerplate and talking points from the Far Right: "Where's your program?" "Why are you so violent?" "Why are you beating up the police?" Etc.
Wait until Spring . . . when non-violence will flower more easily, and the police informants and provocateurs will be outed at last.
Enough . . . .
Macresarf1 would write no more this day.
