Her clients include bestselling writers María Amparo Escandón (Esperanza's Box of Saints), Joy Nicholson (The Tribes of Palos Verde), Dr. Wendy Mogel (The Blessing of a Skinned Knee), Dr. Elaine Aron (The Highly Sensitive Child), and Cash Peters (Naked in Dangerous Places).
DAVID GROFF scouts and develops fiction and nonfiction writers for Rob Weisbach Creative Management in New York City. The agency's bestselling authors include Norman Ollestad (Crazy for the Storm), Chris Colfer (The Land of Stories), Hilary Duff (Elixir), and Lauren Manning (Unmeasured Strength).
JANE PUTCH founded Eyebait Literary Management in 2007 as a division of her successful brand management consultancy in Los Angeles. Her clients include novelist Laini Taylor, whose Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy is being developed by Universal Studios; Tone Almhjell (The Twistrose Key); and fashion icon Edie Raymond Locke (From the Kick of Nazi Boots to the Click of High Heels).
ANGELA RINALDI founded the Angela Rinaldi Literary Agency in Los Angeles in 1994. She represents bestselling authors Dr. Spencer Johnson (Who Moved My Cheese?), Dr. Joseph Parent ( Zen Golf ), Katherine Woodward Thomas (Calling In “The One”), and Linda Kaplan (My First Crush), Drusilla Campbell (Blood Orange ).
We'll be discussing what an agent can do for you, what agents are looking for in today's authors, what kinds of books are selling in the new multimedia publishing climate, how to research agents, foolproof ways to make an agent seek you out, how to understand an agency representation agreement, which fees (such as reading fees) are controversial within the industry, and ways to ensure a long and profitable agent-client relationship.
