Passion in Compassion

It's been a very tiring week so far and I am almost out of strength. Just imagine doing the job of seven people on your own! I am just physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted! I am just amazed how I can even keep up with myself. God is really true to his word when He says that His strength is sufficient for us. I don't feel or even think that I am Superman, I just know that I have the grace of God to help me through it all.

God has been teaching me a lot about relationships lately: how to deal with people, their positive and negative traits; also about how I relate to them. I can say that I am learning. Little by little I am learning how to live my life the way He wants me to live it and the way I know I should live it through His word. I am not perfect, just under His amazing grace.

The other day, the lesson was about compassion.

I know how easy for some of us to sometimes just say that we are compassionate. But how many among us do really know what being compassionate really means?

Jesus had a compassionate heart. Everywhere He went He responded to what His compassionate heart sees.

He sees a lame man and makes him walk. He sees a blind man and makes him see. He sees the sick and heals them. He sees those who are in oppression and bondage to sin and the enemy, he frees and delivers them. That is compassion at work. Wherever and whenever there is a need, Jesus IS there.

Can we be compassionate enough to help the person in the street? what means do we have to show our compassion? That sandwich in your hand for the hungry? That scarf on your neck for that person out in the cold? A call to a friend who knows someone who can help someone? "What is in your hand?", Asks God to Moses. "A staff Lord...", he says. God ordered him to use his staff to show God's glory and guess what happened? Deliverance.

Looking at my hands right now, I have a lot of things under my command. I can cause great suffering to people if I wanted to. I refuse to be an instrument of the enemy but a vessel of God's blessing and glory.

Compassion for me right now is whole-heartedly doing something good to someone even if they don't deserve it.

I guess that's why there is passion in compassion.

"But I say to you, love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you. If you do this, you will be true children of your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:44-45

You are blessed!
