As some of you know, Red Room's office is in a beautiful red Victorian in Hayes Valley in San Francisco. As we work to build redroom.com, we are really lucky because we have a view of a beautiful garden the landlords built where there used to be an unofficial garbage dump.
Yesterday, as I was sitting at my desk working on our terms of service and some other projects, a flurry of movement caught my eye and I turned to see a red-tailed hawk swoop down into the garden. I was amazed to seeing such a big bird up close. I could tell that everyone else who was in the back garden felt the same. The bird had this incredible intensity.
The picture that's included with this blog is of the hawk I saw yesterday. I don't think the picture does it justive, you had to see it fly. Am I right that it's a red-tailed hawk?
When I was growing up in the Berkeley hills, right next to the wilds of Tilden Park, deer would run through our backyard and we would often see raccoons and possums. Since I moved to San Francisco I no longer expect wild animals will cross my path.
Has anyone else had any close encounters with nature in the city recently?
