From the Introduction

Life is about change. As human beings we're always changing, growing, transforming and transitioning our lives. Sometimes we seek a new job. Other times we pursue a new career. Still other times we desire a new direction. But whether it is our circumstances that lead us to take a new path or a desire to pursue a goal or dream, as women we learn that we have the power to choose who we want to be, what we want to do, and what kind of life we want to lead.

Press Pause Moments: Essays about Life Transitions by Women Writers is a collection that chronicles the personal experiences and transformations that accompany life changes. The catalyst for the anthology was my own press pause moment when, after years as a successful corporate communications professional, I decided in midlife to pursue my lifelong ambition to write and publish. I went back to graduate school and managed the delicate balancing act of pursuing a full-time M.F.A. in Professional Writing while holding down a demanding corporate position and raising two young children.

But I still wasn't entirely happy. I had to press the pause button on life's remote control and take inventory of my passions, purpose and priorities. I had to give myself permission to invest time and change things. I had to realize that taking a different path didn't mean giving up my hard-earned success and everything I had worked for to date; instead I needed to take risks and consider the possibilities of what would happen if I truly went after what I wanted from my life.
