Author of new novel BANK SHOT, John Haslam was born the oldest son in a textile mill family in small town Alabama. He evolved from a wannabe athlete and a fair country student into an award-winning sports writer in his first career. Later, he became one of the top computer engineering graphics teachers in the world. The CAD GURU (computer aided design), as he is called in engineering and design circles, has traveled around the world spreading the gospel about CAD. "When you have been almost everywhere, you see things that just belong in a book," Haslam says. "I write those books now."

I am a avid college football fan. I am not sure if it is because of the game, or the tailgate parties. I also like to build things, with my engineering background. But, for me, when I get into my convertible and put the top down, I can drive forever, preferably somewhere out west. That's as close to heaven as you can get without dying.
