About Me
Hello, everyone. My name is Piper Davenport and I am a writer, currently working on my first novel, which takes place in my hometown of Detroit, Michigan. I'm a graduate of the University of Michigan-Dearborn with a B.A. in English. I've previously published in the Lyceum, BackHand Stories, 63 Channels and PoeticDiversity.Org. I love to go down to Belle Isle Park and sit by the water but unfortunately, time and the cost of gas is preventing me from doing so. I'm working on a novel about Detroit, a city that receives a lot of negative feedback from people outside the city but not really from Michigan or even the metro area. Like a lot of people, I'm not employed right now so I'm just doing this in the meantime. I know that I'm talented enough to make it but I don't know if that will translate into book sales so join me on this rollercoaster ride of an adventure. I know that sounds cliche but I'm going to save my best words, thoughts and phrases for the stuff that I can make a profit off of and hopefully, being poor will soon become a distant memory of the past.

Interests & Hobbies
- Reading, writing, traveling, sitting by the water, concerts, going out to eat at nice restaurants, going to the movies. I LOVE to laugh. I think laughter is such an important part of life, even when I'm writing about serious things. I guess it's kind of hard for people to imagine what kinds of things that a writer likes to do in their spare time, huh? Well, news flash, people! We're normal just like everyone else except that I like to spend my days writing, sometimes in my pajamas with rollers in my hair, as opposed to sitting in a cubicle. We get paid for putting our ideas down on paper and for me, writing IS a hobby because you have to like it and you have to like other forms of writing. I like anything that allows me to write. So, just check back here for blog postings on interesting things that I like to do. So, I'm working on a novel and a collection of short fiction but I'm going to finish the novel first but in the meantime, check out the web links of some of my work. Enjoy!
