How a book brought me happiness this summer in Italy.
I plan on reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert at the onset of every summer because summertime should always be a journey to seek pleasure.

It's a god awful video. YouTube's new direct connect thing is awful. It screwed up the codec something horrible. However, the stills of the thing look crystal clear. It's nutty!
The audio is fine though!

The elements of summer reading
"One Night @ the Call Center" By Chetan Bhagat.
I love this book.
Cori Westphal says:
I'm not sure if this counts
I'm not sure if this counts as a memorable summer experience but we are summer campers and I'm not sure how I would get thru the night without a good book. It's hard to get to sleep while we're camping. I'm currently hooked on Dean Koontz's Odd books. Haven't gotten the new one yet but I'm really excited about it! Thanks for the great contest!
Deanna Peters says:
Three Cups of Tea
This book gives the reader a glimpse of Pakistan while demonstrating how one person can make a difference. It's about a guy named Greg Mortensen who started building schools for girls in Pakistan over a decade ago. I wish all Americans could read it so they could see how fighting terrorism can be a peaceful endeavor...much less expensive and much more effective
Gideon Weitzman says:
The Ruined Summer of Reading

Summer Book Giveaway
I can't remember a time when I didn't read alot and I loved summers as a kid because there was so much time to read - at home, outside, at the beach, in the mountains, in the car while traveling.
One of the books from my childhood that stands out the most is Witch of Blackbird Pond. That was my first historical and I couldn't put it down. (I still my ragged copy).
I loved Trixie Belden mysteries and would read as many as I could get my hands on during the summers.
I've read so many books over the years it's hard to pin down one favorite but thanks for the chance to share.

I loved to explore the dusty shelves of this old bookstore. Finding old classics and obscure titles by great authors and obscure authors with great stories. The store is closed now but the experiences will last forever.
Penny Van De Water says:
Summer reading
I work part time at our local library and do most of the book ordering.
I read three or four books a week and have read many off the authors on your website. In summer I tend to read more fun books that are great "escape" stories. Books are my favorite pasttime and hobby!

Laura Emerson says:
Most Memorable Summer Reading Experience
I grew up in a family which did not have much money but I had parents who believed in reading and education. Every Saturday my family would dress up and our treat was a trip to the library. I always felt so rich knowing that all those book were free and were mine for the reading. I guess it might sound silly but my most memorable summer reading experience was when I was 10 as that was the summer I was allowed to have my very own library card. I still remember clutching it tightly in my hand, picking my 3 books and giving it to the librarian to stamp. I felt so grown up although I skipped all the way home. I picked up an apple went to my room and sat on the bed. That summer was the beginning of my true love for reading and is still one of the best summers I have ever had.
Gladys Paradowski says:
My favorite summer reading book
I have read this book so many times, but it never fails to entertain and inspire me. It is:
How To Win Friends And Influence People
by Dale Carnegie
The author includes so much practical advice on a subject that anyone can use to good advantage in all aspects of life.

Re: blog post
I wrote my entry for the My most memorable summer reading experience. Guess it takes a while for us newbies to learn about all this stuff, as they say, "you can't teach an old dog new tricks"...but I don't really believe that.
