Red Room Where the Writers Are

I have not been keeping up with my page being that currently I am taking a summer course and still working (And there was that hectic time when I was moving). I am still reading books for pleasure although not at the pace before being that most of my reading is spent on course work. There are still some interesting things going on in the lit world. One, at my job there are plenty of books on bargain; many of the works are bestsellers or written by bestselling authors. I have always wondered: what are authors opinions on works that are sold at extremely bargained prices? This should probably be its own blog entry. Two, urban literature or popular african american literature. It's hard for me to properly label this genre as I don't like the idea of molding hyper violent and sexualized black lit into same group as other lit by black authors. In the recent issue of Elle, they interviewed Miasha and the interviewer is Bliss Broyard. The article was really good and offered up alot of key issues discussed regarding the specific type of literature written by such authors as Miasha. But this will be its own blog because this is supposed to be quick. I have to go so I'll write back later.
