American Idol Farewell
Dear Readers:
I stopped watching American Idol during Season 2, when Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken were competing for the coveted top spot. However, I listened as other friends and family members talked about the various contestants, only briefly watching to see Jordan Sparks win and watch the bad auditions. Tomorrow, anyone? This season started off promising. It seemed as if there were less people on television, just to be on television and actually talented singers seeking acclaim for their talents. Right? Wrong! I don't know what the judges were thinking but I've already decided that I'm probably not going to stick around to see the rest of the season. I think I've finally gotten the show out of my system and judging by the small number of people in the audience, I think American Idol has reached the highest that it can go, which means that after this season, the show will probably have 2 more seasons before it goes off on a high note . . . or the show could go the way of MTV's Real World, which is still on the air, although no one that I know watches it.
The contestants that I voted for, didn't make it. I voted for Anoop and Tatiana Del Toro. Only one of my mother's contestants made it through to the next round and that's Danny Gokey. Sadly, for a good number of people that make it onto the show, they disappear, never to be heard from again, except an occasional commercial jingle. I hope that this is a stepping stone for the contestants that don't make it into the top 9 or 12? (ala Jennifer Hudson) and that show ends on a high note, like American Bandstand and becomes one of those golden treats that people years from now will reminisce about.
Take care,
P.

Piper, Are you aware that the judges are going to select three additional contestants from those of the final thirty-six who didn't win enough home viewer votes? One or more of those you voted for might still make the final 12.

No, I wasn't aware of that. It will be interesting to see whose given a second chance.
