where the writers are

First year of NaNoWriMo 2008

I have never written a novel nor a short story since school. I have written music and comedy  and cabaret shows but my 'muse'  was rebelling and refusing to play ball for the last couple months.

November 11th, I was in a pub in Covent Garden and I had an idea for a book. Not that I wanted to write a book but either way the question 'how long does it take to write a novel' stayed with me til I got home and googled it.  NaNo appeared as if by magic and i realised that thousands of people out there were busily scribbling down their thoughts and great American/English/Italian novels.

I was strengthened by the forums that reassured me that having no plot was not a problem, nor characters, outline  etc. So I started to write and realised that the story largely seemed to write itself. I had a few dilemmas 25k words in as a couple of my characters were a bit dull, so I realised I had to do something horrid to them, again courtsey to NaNo.

I have written over 50k words, though I still have probably 15k to go but I do feel proud and once the first draft is finished I will start the album of music that is going with it. I didnt realise that either at the start
