ONE SPOT LEFT!

Jenny Pritchett will lead a private creative-writing workshop in her
home in San Francisco beginning Wednesday, October 29, from 7-10 p.m.
The workshop will be kept small to facilitate as much personal
attention as possible. Cost is $250.

The workshop is intensive; each member will be workshopped each week,
which means writing and revising are paramount. We begin with group
writing exercises, as well as personalized exercises extrapolating
from each writer's work, which Jenny will design. She will moderate
each workshop, encouraging each writer to respond compassionately yet
complexly to each other's work; we will discuss constructive
feedback. A weekly page-count limit will be given, with complete
flexibility on what you bring in--this is your workshop, after all.
Finally, Jenny will offer extensive comments and suggestions for
revision; some academic discussion of craft, with handouts; and
possibly some short reading assignments for discussion.

Call 415-867-1692 or email jennypritchett@hotmail.com to register.

WHAT STUDENTS ARE SAYING:
"Jenny is extremely effective at motivating, and deconstructing the
class message."
"The assignments were a joy to do--recommended with great enthusiasm!"
"Everything in this class furthered my love of writing."
"This was the best class I've had at State during my years here."
"Engaging...effective...fun...great learning environment...great
format...safe and comfortable space to share work."

WHAT CRITICS ARE SAYING ABOUT "AT OR NEAR THE SURFACE":
"Jenny Pritchett's [story] 'Born and Raised' delivers a masterful and
unsentimental handling of a topic which, though hugely emotional and
highly sensitive, can be overdone and become an unintentional
self-parody. But Pritchett closes the story with a scene that is at
once surprising, heart-wrenching, and satisfying." NewPages

"In fifteen wonderful stories, Jenny Pritchett stirs up a remarkable
amount of grit and glory. These characters, as they stumble through
their loves and losses, will remind you just how dangerous it is to
be alive." Robin Romm, author of The Mother Garden and The Mercy Papers
