Tell me if this is neurotic
I've been blogging less lately about the trouble I'm having writing my book because I'm having a lot less trouble writing the book. But I feel guilty about neglecting my blog so I keep thinking I should make myself put the book down so I can blog about having trouble writing it. And even if I don't actually put the book down my anxiety about neglecting the blog makes it harder to write the book. So here I am now, blogging about my guilt and anxiety about not blogging. Because I'm writing my book.
Maybe I should just start posting excerpts.

LOL, Gerard
It's like feeling guilty about digging into a huge chocolate sundae while digging into a huge chocolate sundae. This isn't neurosis, it is hunger.
Hunger good. Good for writing!

Rosy Cole says:
You've never struck me as neurotic, Gerry.
Your posts are always lucid and interesting. Most authors have a degree of OCD and all that goes with it. It's what the job takes!
It's worth trying out shortish passages of your WIP on your blog page. It probably won't elicit much in the way of comment, but you can judge interest by the traffic to your page. The two things aren't of necessity connected.
Gerard Jones says:
Thanks!
I thought I'd noticed that disconnect between traffic and comments. I always feel crushed to see "0 comments," but I suspect you're right, Rosy, that that doesn't mean I'm utterly unnoticed and unloved. It's hard to comment quickly, succinctly and publicly on someone's work.
And Farzana: thanks a whole lot for bringing up chocolate sundaes right when I'm doing this no-carb diet!
I'm going to back to my book....
