Catching Up

The in-house techno-wizard, Adele, has solved my computer problems and I am now able to read others' blogs here, as well as post my own without going through the always-reliable Huntington Sharpe, allowing him to direct his talents and energies elsewhere.  Anyway, here's the link to my latest piece at Broad Street Review

http://www.broadstreetreview.com/index.php/main/article/peggy_maley_hollywood_castoff

And here's it's opening: "As Mildred, Peggy Maley delivered one of the most famous set-up lines in film history: “Hey, Johnny, what’re you rebelling against?”  “What’ve you got?” everyone remembers Marlon Brando answered.  She’d tossed the perfect insouciant lob and he, slouching, slam-dunked it.  But all the times I’d seen “The Wild One,” until I set out to write about it, I thought Mary Murphy asked the question."

This will be my last piece at TBR for the foreseeable future, as I've decided to concentrate my writing time on a project I've been off-and-onning for a while.  (Not sure how that'll affect my output here.)

Oh, and favorite book store:  Moe's.  Amazing selection; reasonable prices; and not too picky about what it'll buy back from you.

...and congratulations to you to, Mike.  I've been reading it from p. 1 and just reached part ii this afternoon.  I have to honestly say I've been quite impressed by the quality of the company we keep.  One fellow just had a book favorably reviewed in the NYRB and this Judy Oppenheimer is a real treat.

Great new picture by the way.
