Just posted an audio snippet of the Money to Burn CD in the "media" section of my home page. It's narrated by the gifted Carol Cowan, who does an amazing job. I've heard so many authors complain about their audio book narrators that I count myself extraordinarily lucky to have Ms. Cowan...

"A few weeks ago my husband and I spent a long weekend at Sea Ranch on the California coast. It was such a wonderful respite! Living in Sacramento for the last month has been like living in a campfire – hot, smoky, and nearly unbearable. But as we drove down the valley, through the mountains,...

Halifax,Nova Scotia The back of my neck (it is to be hoped) hidden by various eating and drinking establishments. Halifax, the second largest port in the world (Sydney, Australia, is the largest) is my destination for a couple of trips. A favourite place of waterfront and ocean front and boat...

I'm back in Massachusetts, the Southwest a distant dream at the moment. It took forever to get here, or so it seemed. You just can't get from Point A to Point B these days without a lot of expense and a lot of stress. The best thing to do is prepare for it. I spent literally the entire day and...

Today I am blogging over at Midlist Writer.  Sean asked me to write up my thoughts and reflections on the Virtual Book Tour now that the big push is over.  Here's a snippet: My first book, A Journey into Michelangelo's Rome (Roaring Forties Press: 2008), hit bookstores without fanfare, hurrah,...

At last!  The conclusion to my serialized tale, "The Fifteen Year-Old and the Terrorist."  I've been telling about my introduction to travel over at my home blog, Just Go! (http://aknickerson.blogspot.com/2008/06/fifteen-year-old-and-terrorist-p...)  Here's a taste: "Hold my hand or...

In truth, we won't be swimming much, for the Dead Sea has such incredibly high salt content (30%) that it places the body too high in the water to stroke properly.  As a former lifeguard and a strong swimmer, I found it an odd sensation.  Is it even possible to drown in the Dead Sea?  I dunno. ...
