I have been singing, terribly and off-key, the Go Go's song "Vacation" for the past few days.  I think that my random melodic outbreaks in the middle of the daily chaos are a result of my subconscious anticipation of my vacation next week.  A vacation in which I will fully immerse myself...

Love is never simple in Ravikovitch's world. This poem involves  the whole world: the sun, God, and even history. But the speaker is not powerless, she decides when to stop loving and she informs the God-like lover that he is not the master of her destiny. Like the sunflower, she is ...

I saw the promise of rains in these clouds. Within minutes they disappeared leaving the sky dry. But the skies are not dry; it is not even skies. There is only one sky. But I like to think of them as skies, as they change in colour while remaining static in shape. You cannot mould the skies, but...

I’m lucky. I feel lucky today, with sun streaming to one side of me, radiating onto my hand as it meanders across this page, and over my cheek and the slightly exposed skin of my neck.   The sun shone all day long and the thermometer said 70 degrees today in beautiful Corfu Greece. It’s actually been like this the past two days and tomorrow looks just as promising. Whoever said that weather affects ones mood sure did hit the nail on the head because I feel great today!...

We're moving closer to our rainy season. Today we had a midday downpour so sudden that it came as a shock to the system. Now, as the day draws to a close, the sun has decided to come out and show off its brilliance. Too little, too late! NPS Photo As I contemplate (and dread) a return to...
