Ahhh....Spring.
I'm not one who has a favorite season. Each one offers its delights and literary opportunities. And each one its challenges (tax preparation, for example). But on a singular practical note, as a motorcyclist, Spring rules!...

Outside the doors, the world is changing, greening, coming alive. I love spring for so many reasons, but probably most for reimmersion with hope. Where the world was dead and ugly now is verdant and full of life, and beautiful. The bouquet sitting on my table as I write is bursting with fragrance...

Aubade on Avenue D
Brick, Brick, Brick and

torn paper cup, floating,
red plastic lid to a tylenol
bottle, strands of synthetic doll
hair. Iron pole, wire, light
smeared on the side
of a telephone pole. Staples.
Wet paper flapping. Xeroxed

......Waiting for morning and waiting for Spring and waiting for Spring to end and waiting for Summer to begin, waiting to get on a plane to fly to Spain or Italy and waiting to get home and someone says you look great and you say food fabulous but too hot and you go back to waiting, waiting for...

Saturday was beautiful, warm, well 12C and sunny. I spent a lot of the day outside, repotting plants and cleaning up the garden. I moved all my plants out onto the deck yet one more time. There was even pale pink hothouse rhubarb in the market - spring was here.I made two desserts, a pavlova with...
