I think one of my biggest pet peeves has got to be non-reponsive publishers. Year after year it gets worse. I've already been on the agent hunt, and this produced 280 non-responders out of 440 submissions. The below listed publishers are at the six-month mark and much longer, and I'm calling...

Mail (Photo credit: Bogdan Suditu) There's no way to stop them from happening. Rejections. I'm talking about in the publishing industry. I have yet to hear about a published author who sent out queries and never received a rejection. The only way to achieve such a feat is to never send a query....

Now, I'm not talking about bumping your agent off, although I'll bet it's crossed the minds of some writers out there. Kidding aside, I've had more people ask me this question than any other over the years, so I thought I might 'splain' myself. And, of course, this is Guerrilla Warfare For...

It's like being the unpopular girl for so long that when any old popular guy shows a bit of interest, you immediately latch onto him and proudly proclaim him your boyfriend, ignoring little things such as barely knowing or having anything in common with him. What's like that? you ask....

Talking about submissions here, folks. You know, those nasty little packages you send off to agents and editors. Yep, those. Commonly called the query-go-round, query hell, or jumping on the sub train, we all go through it sooner or later and many of us are stuck on it for a time, or are...

You've got a great idea for a nonfiction book. You've written a killer book proposal. Now you need a fabulous query letter to grab an agent or a publisher so they ask you to send your proposal for review. To write a killer query, you need a one-page letter with three basic sections or...

It’s tempting, I know. When you’re ready to query, you just want to get your stuff out there. It’s almost like heading to the lake on a hot summer day. You KNOW the water is going to be cold, so you close your eyes and run for it – straight into the freezing water. Yeah, not always a smart move....

I think I've spent close to three hours in bits and pieces finishing up my listing on something called "AuthorsDen.com"  Does anybody have any thoughts to the site's usefulness or anything else?  Here's my listing... http://www.authorsden.com/visit/author.asp?AuthorID=153769

I seem to be rather busy lately with submitting requests for book reviews for my novel that was recently published, sending out queries for a new novel I've just revised/edited and editing yet another novel that needs quite a bit of finishing before it's ready to go. I know that as a new author, my...
