Do you want to write a book, article or essay but feel stressed out and self-conscious when you think about the fact that your writing will be read by others? Does this reduce your creativity and leave you feeling blocked and unable to write? Try blogging.
"Wait," I hear you protest. "Blogging...

So, I actually weaned myself off a little of the Apple flavored Kool-aid yesterday. I got a new phone and—brace yourself—it’s not an iPhone.
(I feel like the dramatic hamster music should play right here.)
It’s not even a smartphone. It’s not an Android, a BlackBerry, or… well, are there any others...

Scrambling around today, picking up the pieces of my life that have been neglected while I was absorbed in finishing the book. Also catching up on my RSS feeds, dragging myself slowly back to the now. While I was going through them, a new Balls of Steel by my friend Jeanne Veillette Bowerman...

It's done.....
Done, and sent, with it's brand new ending, to New York, where I now cross my fingers that my team likes the changes I've made, and we can go straight to copyedit.
(Snoopy dance....)
Well, not Snoopy. The Charlie Brown Christmas special dance - you know the one....
That...

So close to being finished I can taste it. I've been in the same position for about six hours, I think. (creak) I want to be done so badly that I'm making myself stop, so I don't rush the end. A great work day today - I think by the time I'm done I will have added a lean 5,000 words to the book...

So.... Rachel asked what turned me into...

Lordy, I am so far behind today! I couldn't get online because I'd set my Freedom for four hours accidentally, a byproduct of that crazy 10K day.
But making great progress on the revision. This is the word by word pass, the last chance to make substantial changes pass, the I just used that word on...

Home again, home again, jiggity jig. If you laugh, you don't like figs.
According to The Writer's Almanac (if you're not reading it, you should - very cool) on this date in 1958, Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita was published in the U.S. to mixed...

Back on a plane this afternoon, heading home. I'm always sad to leave Colorado - and of course, my parents. But my life is in Nashville, and so to Nashville I go.
It's a three hour flight. With all I've done this week, now seems like a good time to write the epilogue for the May '12 book, so...

What a lovely day. Got up early to do some research before driving up into the mountains to have lunch with a friend. Brilliant lunch at a fine Mexican restaurant, a nice visit. Then drove down the mountain in what turned into a massive thunderstorm - wind driving the rain sideways, trees bent at...
