I particularly love the last for comic effect. On a serious note, Brian Erickson’s letter makes a good point about how strong...

My op-ed yesterday on AOL stirred up a lot of interest and responses both positive and negative. Here are a few observations from me and then the unedited emails. (BTW, since AOL News doesn’t allow comments, I’d love it if Red Room authors and members would comment on my blog post here that...

One of my grad school professors who taught me about consulting used to love telling prospective clients, “It seems like you don’t need any help.” He said this was one of his most effective lines for getting people who claimed they were in great shape to open up about what was really troubling them...

If I ran a brick and mortar store I would have 2 concerns. Get people to the store. Get people to stay and keep buying. In women’s clothing stores I think there should be a room off to the side that has a pinball machine and a Wii. Dads and kids can go in there while Moms shop. More time to shop...

There’s a common question among corporate executives about whether leaders are born or made. This question is simplistic and problematic. It allows people who don’t know how or don’t want to spend the time or money to neglect developing leadership in those around them. This question also promotes...
