I miss editing. Working through the copyeditor’s notes on MORBID CURIOSITY CURES THE BLUES has reminded me of that. I love the pure beauty of language, the perfect shade of meaning inherent in a word, and coming to understand and appreciate an individual author through her word choices and...

Two weeks ago, a professional organizer came over to help me sort through the Automatism Press/Morbid Curiosity paperwork. The project has hung over my head for years. Especially now with the MC book in the works, I worried that someone would ask me to find something and I’d actually have to page...

At the PO Box today, I got a catalog of books for review, addressed to me as the editor of Morbid Curiosity.  I know I've already written this publisher to let them know that the magazine died in 2006, so fine, read and recycle. I also got a submission for the magazine.  It came from Trinidad, West...

This blog entry will be somewhat incoherent, as I'm having trouble organizing my thoughts. It's been nearly two...

The fourth issue of Morbid Curiosity -- which features kissing a tiger, getting car-jacked while researching the Zodiac Killer, dodging abduction by a UFO, visiting shamans in Chiapas and Pennsylvannia, driving a hearse, working with a corpse, fleeing a homicidal boyfriend, and practicing...

I'm down to the last 8 copies of Morbid Curiosity #3, which featured stories on researching The X-Files, visiting Poland's Black Madonna, working in a vivisection lab, and finding your landlord dead -- all stories 100% true. Oh, and the photo above is on the cover. I took that in the ossuary at...

I've been working on the Morbid Curiosity anthology proposal. The order of the stories keeps shifting around. In the magazine, I used to put stories on the same topic back to back, figuring that they would comment on each other. Now I find I want to space them out, so the commentary leaves more...
