I love receiving fan mail from around the world, and here, Ann from South Africa sent me pictures of her Huskies who howl like wolves! Aren't they beautiful? This is Anjanka. And this is Duke! Thanks, Ann, for sending me pictures of your lovely dogs! She says that reading about my wolves remind her...

Bad things come in threes, right? Okay, I suppose they might--at least that's what my grandmother used to say and then you had your quota and no more bad things for a while. But I disagree.  If you don't get the three things taken care of, three more problematic things come along, and then,...

Are you a professional? I am! I'm a professional teddy bear artist. (They've won awards, been featured in magazines and newspapers, and even were in the film: The International Teddy Bear Connection.) I'm a professional writer. (I've been paid--doesn't that count?--won awards, even been asked to...

Donna sent me a couple of pictures of wolves at a zoo. They're lovely, Donna, thank you!! The two white wolves were moving quickly, like the ones I was trying to capture in pictures. I ended up getting a LOT of backsides. LOL Donna did better! :) Must be her wolfish blood. The black wolf has a...

This was the wolf dog who had lost his mate and for 3 weeks stayed in his den. But here, he actually came out to the fence and howled near us. When the wolves howl, it was pretty quick, so capturing a picture of them with their head tilted back and giving off a howl was hard to do. The...

This is the beta Arctic Wolf scent rolling. Dogs will do this also, and bring back the "delightful" smells they've picked up--the scent of dead animals, etc, to their pack. Our yellow Labrador Retriever would love to do this after we gave her a sweet smelling bath. Not to her taste...

This was one of the wolves that was walked when we were at the St Francis Wolf Sanctuary. She's a beta, as you can see from the way she stands. She was thrilled to go for a walk, yet she kept her ears back, her tail tucked between her legs, her body slightly bowed. She has always lived alone,...

I made a 5 hour round trip to Montgomery, Texas to see wolves and wolf dogs that have been taken into protective custody at St Francis Wolf Sanctuary and was lucky to have a couple of my co-workers come with me. One navigated, the other slept. We left at 6:15 AM. :)  Nine in the morning is when...

Revenge is the theme in many of my books. And I thought this was fun when fan and friend, Jessica, sent it to me. Now a note--wolves would not like to be referred to as dogs. So just a caveat here. The dog eat dog world refers to the pups in the picture. It's a wolf eat wolf out there also...

As opposed to Dancing with Wolves, I'll be going with some of my library co-workers and though I asked our library directory if we could count this as an educational library trip, to which he didn't respond, we're going to have a ball. Now, the bad part is we have to leave at 6:15 in the...
