Nothing like having a character get into an existential argument with himself to blow your mind when you're writing.  It's like, wait...what?  I need a lot more coffee to keep up with this. But, time to stop writing like crazy, walk home and return to real life, which means the more...

Rocketed through another writing day yesterday.   How do you want to put it?  Baseball, football or other sports metaphors, war metaphors, throttle settings, historic cries of, "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead"?  Balls to the wall, all out, flat out, get out -- Sorry, got lost...

Ah, the first sip of a double shot Mexican mocha, the first movement of the mouse.  Finding the place where the writing stopped, picking up the lead, the flying fingers' clicking speed.  Music fades. No, the world is still out there.  Wang Chun still exhorts everyone to have fun...

I'm out of the zone I experienced, remembering it with fondness, but writing still progresses well.   Some time was spent over the last several days reading blogs, essays, fiction, and interviews with authors.  I'd also wandered through used and new book stores.  Such places usually...

Color of Change sent me a bumper sticker to celebrate President Obama's inauguration:  "Keep Growing". Now that's a mantra. Keep growing, baby.   Keep trying to grow. Keep trying to change. Blind growth doesn't help and can be detrimental to true growth.  Think of the parable of the...

Yesterday's post on the writing day didn't go through and get posted on Red Room. The Room didn't respond.  "Oops," there was an error, the system said with a giggle, trying to lighten the mood.  Guess the world wasn't meant to see that posting. Sometimes life takes turns like that....

I'm in a zone right now. I didn't know you could enter a writing zone. I've been in zones in other efforts throughout my life.  A few of them are digital sharp and clear no matter how long ago they happened.  It's been a long time since I can recall being in a zone. You know what I mean...

Another splendiferous writing day. It worries me. How long can this go on? Should I mention that it seems like it’s going great, or will me the muse storm off in anger, refusing to return my calls? Maybe it’s not going as well as I think.  Perhaps I’m pulling a “Shining”, typing the...

Another glorious experience of punching out letters, sometimes forming words which become sentences and evolve into scenes. Or not. Yesterday was sort of a stalled writing day with a late start, disjointed by life matters. When i reached my coffee shop, I ended up at a table beside two WWII...
