Feast of Pentecost | Feast of Pentecost

A new poem for Pentecost
Like rippling silk, the elm
Like Bridal Veil the birch
The Groom is gone...the Groom is come!
The altar flees the church
The Marriage Bond aspires
to realms beyond closed doors
A new vocabulary transcends
Past syllogisms' laws
Like Eden's fruit...

A poem for the Feast of Pentecost
And then it happened...
We hung around for safety
above ground level
the clamouring souls outside
a packed embolus
fain clutching our feet
as if they craved live contact
with celebrity
and sought a fragment of him
we could not furnish...
