Flashing headlights jolted me out of my driver's haze. The one you fall into when covering the same ground day after day. When you reach your destination, you wonder how you even got there because your mind was not behind the wheel, even though your body was.

No heavy breathing.
Not even gasping.
No nothing that’s going to turn me into a bad mood.
I don’t want to be stressed driving.

Driving up to Silverton today for my job and passed a Suburban with Texas plates. I felt smug and superior, being native and all to mountain driving, mixed as most of us are in Colorado regarding Texas vacationers. I allowed myself the briefest sense of superiority, acknowledged that it felt...

Transportation: a vital part of American culture.
We live in suburbs, in subdivisions, in houses.
Houses that run along streets, avenues, courts.
Streets that connect to roads, intersections, highways and interchanges.
We travel inside our private soap bubbles;
windows closed tight, as the air...
