(Yes, I know this is a long post. With no pictures. It's important. Please read through to the end. And then pass it on.) While I was out of town last week, I received word of three attempts to remove two of my books from high school classrooms, Twisted and Speak. The challenge I have the least...

What is so hard about a 4-way stop?? You go in the order you arrive and if there's a tie, you cede to the person to the right. Done. How come nobody understands this? The next time I get waved through a 4-way stop by another driver when I already have the right of way, I'm going to get out and hook...

As reported in the Washington Post (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/11/19/hillary_clintons_fix.html), if President-Elect Obama offers the position of Secretary of State to Senator Clinton, and if she accepts, they will run up against the Emoluments clause of the constitution, which...

"Patriotism is not pinning a flag pin to one lapel to free up both hands, so you can tear up the U.S. Constitution,"  Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. From newly released, must-see, independent film, "The Warning."

...a quaint notion, minted in early nineteenth century Europe, which has been variously juggled as a framework for the ordering of society. Or, to put it another way: God's in His Heaven, All's right with the world. So sang Pippa, the little silk-winder from Asolo in Robert Browning's poem,...

It’s time to stop falling for the same old crap. Tonight, I did what I said I was going to do while in Memphis after having evac’d from hurricane Gustav (long live New Orleans, woot woot!) - I watched Obama’s acceptance speech. Then I watched McCain’s. Then I watched Ron Paul’s speech given at the...
