I've been way behind in posting, but I wanted to note a wonderful interview that Caroline Leavitt did on her blog. Here's the beginning:  What made you obsessed with the idea of a female photojournalist in Vietnam? Why this topic—and why at this time? I was always obsessed with Vietnam. My mother...

What with Caroline Leavitt now fully locked into being in IWS Episode IV (muahahahahaa!), an exhausting but exciting and exhilarating email exchange among the three of us whirled around the interwebs yesterday as we plotted the general story for the upcoming episode. Caroline had a list of...

[The above is episode III of IWS, "Writing, Time Management, and You"] KRIS SAYS: When fellow Backword Books author Christopher Meeks told Kel and me that he’d shared our “Writing, Time Management, and You” episode (here) with Caroline Leavitt, I thought, “Oh! Cool! Thanks!” Then I...

I've been thinking a lot about how writers see the world. Recently on Facebook, a writer I really, really admire (the extraordinary Rhian Ellis, who wrote After Life, which I've written about here before) was telling me how she had been arrested for protesting some white supremacists in her...
