On my book tours I often venture to places few others visit. There are book festivals in tiny provincial towns. Readings at bookshops in small rural villages. This week I spoke in a German town that many Germans are convinced doesn’t even exist.Bielefeld (population 330,000) is a town in North...

So Morbid Curiosity Cures the Blues has been out since Tuesday. Somehow (because I am still a naive kitten, I suppose) I thought that would change everything. And maybe it has, but no one has told me yet. I'm still the same old Loren, waking up at 4 a.m. with a to-do list already in mind, already...

Seriously, how? If you're any good at teaching, you'll give it your best energy, and you'll come home depleted. Perhaps you write during the blessed summers, on the rare sabbaticals. And maybe you've made your peace with that. You are fortunate to have a good teaching job, you know that.
But...

I recently discussed media training with an author who was getting ready to go on her first book tour. The publisher wasn't going to pay for that service, so she searched around locally and hired someone at the last minute.
Later I called to see how it went. "Frankly, I was disappointed...
